Relief & Flood Cleaning Efforts - Dunrobin (Constance Bay) - 2017 & 2019 Flood

Emergency Food & Relief Support, May 9th 2017 at Constance Bay area in Ottawa. We distributed ‘hot meals’ and provided support to the affected families in the area. We were able to distribute food for over 100 people.

Again, we joined hands with the local flood relief work at Shirley's Bay on June 9th 2019 at 262 Len Purcell Dr, Woodlawn, ON

    

     

 

COVID-19 Help Line

On April 18th 2020, we partnered with the Ottawa Muslim Association(OMA) to help people affected by COVID-19. The aim was to help our seniors, students, single-parents and those that are sick in the Ottawa community. We helped with $5000 for this project.

COVID Related Death

On April 5th 2020, we arranged a Virtual Prayer session for late Mr. Mohammad Shariat Ullah, where we were able to engage over 200 families to join the Session. As the death was due to COVID-19, this was only one of the few ways for people to give their final respect.

Helping Amphan Cyclone Victims

We collected $2000 to help several families in Bangladesh who were affected by the Cyclone Amphan. We helped by proving them Tin to rebuild their homes on July 14th 2020.

  

    

Appreciation of Health Workers

On 17th April 2020, as a Token of Appreciation to our Health workers, we distributed food for Hundred staff at the Ottawa General Campus. The food was distributed by our volunteers amongst three departments: Intensive Care, Dialysis and Emergency units.

    

   

    

COVID-19 Relief For Needy In Bangladesh

On April 23rd 2020 we sent Relief aid to Bangladesh, in collaboration with ‘Do Something Foundation’. The relief packages included food rations for people who lost their jobs during the pandemic and those struggling financially. We were able raise $1500 for this project.

 

   

COVID-19 Hospital Relief In Bangladesh

On May 9th 2020, we helped the patients and their families of the medical ward that housed more than 50 COVID-19 patients, with food packages, transportation and finance. This relief work was done at Kurmitola Hospital, Bangladesh. The situation was very dire, where families are having to fend for their loved ones. As a result medicine, food, oxygen cylinders etc. have to be arranged without the help of Doctors or Nurses. were able raise $2000 for this project.

  

Helping An Iraqi Refugee

We covered the Burial cost of $1500 for an Iraqi Refugee and whose family did not have the means.

Cancer Patient

On January 16th 2020, we raised $2000 for the cancer treatment of Br. Abdul Mannan Mohammad who was diagnosed with MSI- high colon cancer with liver metastasis. After chemotherapy which is supposed to be followed by immunotherapy the estimated cost of immunotherapy is CAD$ 120,000 and but it was not covered by the Provincial Health plan in Ontario (OHIP).

Youth Tournament

We held a Youth Basketball & Soccer Tournament to keep our youth busy with Sports during the winter of 28thDecember 2019. We had 50 kids who joined the event along with their families. They were able to participate in the games and listen to group talks by our local Speakers. We served dinner for 350 people, the event fed both body and soul.

  

 

Rohingya Vigil

Silent Protest for the Rohingya Muslims in Burma at the Peace Tower, Parliament Hill, Ottawa on October 17th 2017. We worked alongside Burma Task Force to organize a Silent Protest to stand in Solidarity with persecuted Rohingya. We joined hands for the rights of our displaced Rohingya, and donated to print banners and plaque cards for multiple silent protest at the Parliament Hill.

  

Bangladesh Flood Donation

On September 12th, 2017 we were able to collect an amount of $1050.00 for the relief efforts in Bangladesh. This money was used to provide shelter, food and clothing to the flood-stricken people in the rural parts of North Bengal. The mud homes that were destroyed during the flood had been rebuilt with homes in all brick and tin. The homes for five affected families had been rebuilt with this money.

  

 

Seniors Day Out

We arranged a Seniors Day Out on July 16th, 2017. It was a day out for our Seniors within the community at Dows Lake Commissioners Park. This helped our Seniors make new friends and spend a day full of fun filled activities.

Rohingya Refugees In Bangladesh

On January 28th, 2017 we hosted a Fund-Raising Dinner in collaboration with Human Concern International (HCI). We raised $50,744 for Rohingyas Refugees. The funds were sent to Bangladesh where the Refugee camps were setup near CoX’s Bazaar area. Food, Toiletries and Hygiene items were distributed.

Helping A Surgery Patient

Anne after her brain surgery due to brain disorder called AVM.

On January 15, 2016, Anne survived an 11.5 brain surgery. She had a rare brain disorder called AVM. She needed help with her physiotherapy. She has difficulties with speech, her one side is still numb and she suffers from chronic nerve pain. We visited her at her rehab/home for people with special needs run by March of dimes in Brockville. We raised $1100 for her ongoing treatment

  

Syrian Refugees

Through United Church we were able to sponsor a family of Syrian Refugee. We raised $45,000 for Sponsoring the Syrian Refugee family including Govt. equivalent match. The match was achieved through the Ottawa Muslim Association(OMA). The fundraising was done on January 30th 2016.
